The accordion has been around for quite a while and it has been a familiar instrument to generations of music lovers, and is now recognised as being ideally suited to producing artistically sensitive performances in all music styles.

You can hear it on TV, on the radio, live and very well known artists produce hits and CD's where an accordionist is part of the band. And there are solo performers, duos, ensembles, accordion orchestras and symphony accordion orchestras. Pieces played are transcription and original composition. When used in instrumental combination, the accordion adds variety and characteristic colour.
The Accordion Society of Australia ( ASA ) was founded and registered in 1970, and became incorporated in 2006
